St Mark 15
Three men upon their crosses
Hanging, suffering, dying
You’d think there’d be remorse
With a crowd in sorrow crying.
But the crowd shouts out in anger
With some mocking, jeering, smiling
And two upon their crosses
Take up the crowds reviling.
With obvious conviction
We see a change in one
As he defends the central figure
That he’d just mocked in fun.
The innocence so obvious
Has needs to be defended
And takes up the cause of Christ
Until his life is ended.
Again we see a mystery
Unfolding in the three
It’s not a story from days gone by
But God revealing me.
My flesh is antichrist
And must needs be dominated
By a spirit that’s converted
With sins results negated.
Then there’s the central figure
It always Christ the mystery
Now revealed in your life
Not a distant history.
